Should I arrive early?
Please arrive a few minutes before your first appointment, in order to fill out some paperwork and use the restroom before your service.
If there is an appointment before you, the door will be locked until it is complete. Wax Loft is a private studio that is all yours, for your session.
How long do I need to grow out my hair?
The longer the better! Your hair should be long enough to lay down, or roughly 3-4 weeks of growth. It may seem like a long time, but your waxing service will turn out much better! We may have to reschedule your appointment if your hair is too short. Keep this in mind when booking before events such as weddings and vacations.
How long will my wax last? Will I be totally smooth after one wax?
Hair is an amazing thing! While one hair is fully grown and ready to shed, another is making its way up the follicle to replace it and yet another hair is being born at the base of the follicle, continuing the cycle. The complete regeneration cycle averages about every five weeks. The best example of this is your arm hair; you will notice that some follicles have two or even three hairs and one of those hairs is ready to fall out and be replaced. That being said, it may take a few visits to achieve the smoothest outcome. It is common to see “shorties” after your first wax, as that hair was under the surface when you received your treatment. Once you get a maintenance schedule going, you will see less hair and have longer periods of smoothness. Remember, everyone is different and results may vary.
I am pregnant. Can I still wax?
Congrats on your new addition and yes, we can wax you! Please note that hormonal changes may cause increased sensitivity during your treatments. As always, please consult your physician before your service. We will make you as comfortable as possible throughout your time here.
Will waxing make my hair thicker? How about darker?
On the contrary! Prolonged waxing can actually damage the hair follicles, resulting in finer and more sparse regrowth. Waxing cannot change the pigment of your hair.
Will I be red after my service?
Most clients show some reaction after a wax service. It can range from slightly pink skin, some swelling, or little red spots where the hair was pulled out. Typically all these signs go away overnight. If you are unsure of how you will react to a waxing treatment, then we recommend you come in for a patch test 24-48 hours before your desired appointment. A patch test can help determine how you will react to waxing.
One last note:
With waxing, there is always a possibility of irritation, rashes or minor bumps, especially on those with super-sensitive skin. Over-the-counter remedies such as aloe vera gel or hydrocortisone will help treat most of these problems. If you experience any reaction that concerns you, please contact your dermatologist immediately.
